Uttar Pradesh Police has yet again made a statement of its novelty and uniqueness! The state police department has employed a classic Bollywood dialogue from the movie 'Zanjeer' and tweaked it to clarify the rumours about the COVID-19 vaccine. This innovative approach has not only garnered quite a few eyeballs but also encouraged people to get the coronavirus vaccine.
The Uttar Pradesh Police Department has weaponised the power of internet memes to disseminate information to the general public. By using Ajit Khan's infamous dialogue from the B-town classic Zanjeer, UP Police has tweeted, 'Lily don't be silly, Covid Vaccine lagwane se koi infection nahi hota', which translates to the fact that coronavirus vaccine does not cause infection.
There is a general sense of hesitancy among the people regarding the COVID vaccine, where people have listed the possibility of another infection or comorbidity as their biggest concern. While the vaccines are tested and approved by the ICMR and global standards of medicine, the prejudice among the general public is hampering the pace of the state, as well as the nationwide inoculation drive against the pandemic.
Besides several certifications, there is hope that this entertaining and unique approach will help culture a positive response among the people towards the vaccine. So far, Uttar Pradesh has launched a vaccination programme for health workers and frontline workers and its plans to stretch the drive to immunise people over the age of 50 years and those with co-morbidities, soon.
