UP to bolster sports activities in state by organizing Khelo India Games 2023-24

Athletes in Uttar Pradesh will soon get a brilliant opportunity to showcase their talents at Khelo India National University Games 2023-24. It is being organized in the state for the first time in history.

The various games will be held in four cities of Uttar Pradesh, namely, Lucknow, Noida, Varanasi and Gorakhpur. During the Games, athletes from distinct nationwide universities will partake in multiple sports, including archery, badminton, football, gymnastics and many others.

More than 4,500 nationwide athletes expected to participate

More than 4,500 athletes representing as many as 150 nationwide universities are expected to take part during the UP Khelo India National University Games of 2023-24.

Reportedly, the games will consist as many as 20 sports including rowing, basketball, kabaddi, judo, boxing, swimming, wrestling, archery, fencing, just to name a few. The sports were decided during a special meeting between Khelo India representatives and UP government officials which was held earlier this month.

Providing facilities for women in sports

During this edition of the Khelo India games, the sports authorities will be bestowing a special focus on women's games. Cutting edge facilities will also be provided to all atheletes, furthering their growth.

For training and coaching purposes, the UP government has finalized the appointment of 12 Indian athletes with an international reputation to act as Coach in across various sports. Incidentally, authorities will appoint 38 more international athletes for similar purposes.
