UP's TB Battle: Training centers to combat spread in Lucknow & Gorakhpur

With around 5% of TB patients in Uttar Pradesh going undetected, the centers aim to slash the number of TB cases in the state.

The UP government is now actively working towards eradicating tuberculosis in the state by setting up TB Training Demonstration Centres. Lucknow and Gorakhpur are earmarked for this initiative, with two centers planned for each city.

A recent survey report from the National TB Division revealed that about 5% of TB cases in Uttar Pradesh go undetected. Despite public hospitals having dedicated TB treatment wards and multiple teams distributing DOTS medication, the challenge persists. Lucknow, for instance, hosts a government-owned TB hospital in Thakurganj.

Once operational, these centers will disseminate comprehensive information on TB symptoms and treatment. Additionally, they will conduct training sessions for doctors, paramedical staff, and health workers, aiming to curb the spread of TB in UP.
