A vibrant photo exhibition, "Baatien, Sneh, Khel", was recently flagged off, with the major goal of bringing to light six diverse families of Uttarakhand and the upbringing of children of the family. Additionally, a micro-site was unveiled here.

The exhibition, put up by Dost Education in association with Ekstep Foundation, conveys stories of responsive caregiving in daily lives. Showcased through a stirring photo-series, the exhibition showed how communication, care and play are fundamental to a child's holistic development.

'Baatien, Sneh, Khel', (literally meaning Talk, Care, Play), was launched today at Lokayata Art Gallery in New Delhi's Hauz Khas.

Here, visitors experienced catharsis through these real-life and heart-warming stories, embedded in various cultural contexts, with their foundation laid on evidence-based research on Early Childhood Development (ECD).

Capturing happy memories and crucial moments of responsive caregiving within families, the photos show how a caring environment nurtures connection and learning in childhood.

"These photos depict that parents engage in the right activities with their children, even without formal exposure to the concept of ECD," Dr Venita Kaul, Director at Ambedkar University and an ECD expert explained.

The wholesome initiative, by Dost Education, highlighted the significance of early childhood development and the exhibition was seen as a critical visual definition of ECD. In view of the same, the National Curriculum Framework – Foundational Stage 2022 (NCF-FS 2022) holds the first eight years of a child's life as special and foundational for the future.

Furthermore, the step is an attempt to show various methods, within each of these families, of taking care of children, keeping in mind the importance of emotional moments. These are what have been captured through and preserved by the lens of the camera!
