The eastern cities of Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow and Kanpur, are set to endure an extended period of bone-chilling temperatures in the upcoming days. The latest forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) suggests that there is no relief in sight from the winter onslaught gripping the state. This is attributed to the persistent influence of frigid westerly and northwesterly winds carrying snowy cold conditions.

As a consequence, minimum temperatures in several cities are anticipated to plunge by 2-3 degrees, accompanied by brisk and chilly gusts throughout the forthcoming days. The meteorological centre has issued a heightened alert for dense fog enveloping Lucknow, Kanpur, and Prayagraj. These adverse weather conditions are projected to persist until January 24.
