Reportedly, the authorities are working on creating awareness on Zika and its preventive measures through posters. In a bid to tackle and trap Zika spread, various extensive exercises are being conducted by health workers across the state. This stringent containment mechanism includes cleanliness drives, spraying of anti-larva chemicals, fogging, mass-scale sanitisation and state-wide surveillance drives.

As per the officials, health workers have been conducting doorstep visits to identify patients with viral fever, vector-borne diseases, influenza-like illness and other symptoms as well. Reportedly, more than 73,000 surveillance committees and ASHA workers have been visiting households for screening and tracing such patients.

Apart from ensuring proper arrangements for treatment of patients infected with Zika virus at government hospitals, the administration has also made it compulsory for private hospitals to provide treatment to such cases as well. As per reports, dedicated Zika wards have been set up in eight government hospitals in Lucknow.

To keep a tab on this situation, the cases of fever are being monitored via the Integrated Command Centre in the state. Additionally, to eliminate the risk of any further spread of Zika virus, the authorities are testing samples at a large scale at Lucknow's King George Medical University.
