Bandra West Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal recreates 52-foot replica of Vivekananda Memorial

The Bandra West Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal in Mumbai has unveiled a striking 52-foot replica of the Vivekananda Rock Memorial for Ganeshotsav 2024. This iconic memorial, located in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, honors the spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda. Known for its elaborate replicas of significant religious sites, the mandal has previously recreated landmarks such as Ujjain's Mahakaleshwar temple, Kedarnath temple, and the Sai Samadhi Mandir of Shirdi.

This year’s centerpiece, the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, has quickly become a major attraction, drawing crowds eager to see the impressive structure and special lamps brought in from Hyderabad. Ashish Shelar, the mandal's chief advisor, highlighted the unique features of this year's display, designed to captivate younger audiences. Celebrating its 29th year, the mandal's festivities are a major draw for people across communities and high-profile visitors from various sectors.

Ganesh Visarjan 2024: Update

Meanwhile, The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported a smooth and peaceful Ganesh Visarjan 2024. By Sunday afternoon, 62,569 idols had been immersed across Mumbai, with 18,696 of these placed in artificial lakes, showcasing a growing trend towards eco-friendly practices.

As the 10-day festival continues, the Bandra mandal's Vivekananda Rock Memorial replica stands as a testament to the city's rich cultural tapestry and innovative spirit.The immersion process for public and household idols went off without incident, showcasing the city’s efficient management of the celebratory rituals.
