The service is expected to launch by July end

In a first of its kind move, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has decided to introduce a vehicle parking application across 27 of its bus terminals in Mumbai. The move is aimed at dissolving traffic woes, by offering an easy-to-use service to daily commuters, who often have to face the brunt of hap-hazard or illegal parking in the city. The new app is expected to launch by July end.

Valet parking for better traffic management

The upcoming BEST valet parking application will help commuters locate the nearest vacant parking spot inside the BEST bus depots. Travellers will also have the chance to select and pre-book their parking spaces. The service will also offer commuters the assistance of valet officials who will park their cars and bring them from the designated spots.

As per the reports, both, the app and valet assistance are simple to use. People can contact parking officials directly from the app. The valet support will be intimated by the company operating the app and they will reach your spot to pick up and drop your vehicles at the bonafide parking spaces.

The new service will ensure a robust traffic management system, saving people from the trouble of finding a parking spot when they are running late. It will also eliminate illegal and haphazard parking in the city, clearing the roads for easy flow of vehicles.

The BEST parking space charges

As of now, BEST bus permits included under the purview of the new app offer two and four-wheeler parking spaces. In addition to them, auto-rickshaws, trucks, and buses can also make use of these spaces. In all, any vehicle can use the open parking space, against a fee generated as per usage.

According to the rate card, the BEST currently charges two-wheelers ₹20 for a 3-hour, going up to ₹1,320 for a month. Four-wheelers charged a fee of ₹30 for the 3-hour spot and of ₹3080 on a monthly basis. Motorists can pick other slots too, of 6, 12 and 24 hours as well.
