BMC betters animal welfare services in Mumbai! New portal to streamline sterilisations and more

Citizens can track their requests in real time.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has introduced a new online platform to address animal welfare concerns in the city. This initiative, accessible via the MyBMC mobile app and BMC website, allows residents to register complaints, schedule vaccinations, and request sterilisations for both stray and pet dogs. Additionally, it provides information on animal welfare initiatives and related government agencies.

Led by BMC Commissioner Dr. Bhushan Gagrani and other senior officials, the system aims to make animal welfare services more accessible to citizens. Dr. Kalimpasha Pathan, General Manager of the Veterinary Health Department, highlighted that users can track their requests in real time through a unique number generated for each submission.

Additionally, the BMC has established an online registration facility for small pet cremations at the Malad crematorium. This service caters to pets weighing less than 50 kg and offers daily cremation slots.

BMC officials believe this digital initiative will contribute to a more humane approach towards animal management in Mumbai.
