This is also BMC's 10th municipal pool, in all of Mumbai and it has been named after the great Maratha king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Gilbert Hill, is quiet reflection of Mumbai; an oasis of green on a 90-metre high plateau of solid rock, surrounded by man-made sprawls of concrete. A remnant of the Mesozoic era, the hill was declared a national park in 1952 and a Grade II Heritage structure in 2007. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha appreciated the efforts of BMC and further added that now Andheri residents will get the opportunity of swimming in an international standard pool.

Further, authorities plan to transform the entire Gilbert Hill area on the lines of Burj Khalifa, within the next year. It is said that an elevator will be built by the Public Works Department (PWD) for devotees visiting the temple situated at the hilltop.
