Mumbai reported five new COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking the total active case tally to 49. Meanwhile, the recovery rate in Mumbai stood at 98.3%. As per the BMC's report, a total of 1,270 tests were conducted in a day, after which, the Test Positivity Rate was reported at 0.39%. Considering the current hike in cases in neighboring countries, the center has also issued mandatory COVID checks at international terminals across the country.
With this, the total COVID case tally of Mumbai mounts to 11,55,098. Meanwhile, the city's death toll count remains unchanged at 19,746. As per BMC data, the overall growth rate of COVID cases in Mumbai from Dec 18 to Dec 24 stood at 0.0005%.
Meanwhile, the city's daily testing capacity has been ramped up to 1.35 lacs and a total of 34 hospitals and 49 laboratories have been equipped with logistical facilities. Reportedly, after a recent inspection by Health Ministry, COVID RNA was found in the sewage water of Mumbai, rising concerns about the COVID spread.
In the wake of the anticipated COVID spread, BMC on Monday also announced to conduct mock drills at 10 civic hospitals on Tuesday. The move is aimed at checking Covid-19 preparedness at the current stage. Notably, there are 4,441 beds in Mumbai for isolating patients, followed by 2,154 beds equipped with oxygen facilities and 902 ICU beds.
BMC has been active in running a successful vaccination campaign, as a result, 14,56,805 people have been administered the booster dose. As per COWIN dashboard data, a total of 1,554 individuals were inoculated with the booster or precautionary dose, 195 with the first dose and 146 with the second dose on December 26.
