COVID cases in Mumbai witness a steep rise; 218 tested positive & 92% were asymptomatic

Marking the 8th consecutive day of 100+ COVID cases in Mumbai, the daily tally on Tuesday saw a steep rise with 218 fresh infections. While 92% of these are asymptomatic, the caseload is significantly higher than 150 cases registered a day earlier on Monday. The cumulative COVID-19 data in the city now stands at 10,63,276 total cases, along with 10,42,280 recoveries and an unchanged 19,566 death toll.

Mumbai's recovery rate touches 98% high

About 7,320 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in Mumbai, of which about 218 or 0.03% were found positive. Of these too, about 201 were asymptomatic and none of the remaining 17 required hospital admission or oxygen support. As of Tuesday, only 48 of the dedicated 24,488 COVID-19 beds in Mumbai hospitals are occupied.

In addition to this, coronavirus recovery is up to a significant 98% high and in this stride, around 158 recoveries were reported on Tuesday. As per the official data, there are around 1,430 active COVID-19 cases in Mumbai.

The Municipal health bulletin data further revealed Mumbai is witnessing a 3,914-day infection doubling rate with a weekly (May 17 to May 23) growth of 0.017%
