'Feline good', like we should: THIS Int'l Cat Day, visit India's first cat café in Versova

The ultimate destination to mingle, play, and create heart-warming memories

Khushboo Ali

Famed as 'India's first cat café', located in Versova, Cat Café Studio is devoted to all feline lovers. This is the ultimate destination to mingle, play, and create heart-warming memories with lovable feline friends.

Here you can grab a cup of coffee, play a few board games and bask in the sheer delight of sharing moments with these whiskered wonders. So, on this International Cat Day, a visit to this lively Versova cafe is a must! And to better your experience, we've got all the deets covered.

Cat Café Studio: Journey

In 2010, Mumbai-based Charu, Mriidu and Jason began their journey with a humble purpose, to provide shelter and care for stray cats. Their mission was to ensure the well-being of these animals, provide them with the necessary medical care, and facilitate their adoption.

Further, owing to generous donations and affection from hoomans and cattos around, the trio were able to open Cat Café Studio in 2015. Since then, they have grown into a comprehensive adoption centre that also offers a welcoming café experience. But that's not all!

In 2017, the trio took their mission of stray cat welfare to the next level by setting up The Feline Foundation in Mumbai - an NGO which manages all rescue and care activities of stray cats.

What the studio offers:

As you enter the Cat Café Studio, there are three different seating areas for you to choose from. There's a comfy outdoor space with potted plants and on the inside, there's a tiny cafe setup along with the major highlight - a room full of cattos and kitties.

When you walk inside this particular room, you'll see cats lounging on fluffy pillows, playing with toys, and creating a cosy "purrty" atmosphere. However, to get into this room and enjoy the company of the furry friends here, there is a nominal hourly fee of ₹200. Also, this studio is home to Gabe - a hyperactive, super-pawdorable doggo, who'll definitely steal your attention!

The adoption process

At Cat Café Studio, all cats are rescued and provided with appropriate care until they have recovered to their full health. After that, you can adopt these delightful felines from the studio. The cafe personnel will be available to assist you throughout the adoption and post-adoption process, shushing any worries that you may have.

Furthermore, the adoption procedure is entirely free of charge! Here's what you all need to know about it. Oh BTW, all the furry residents of Cat Café Studio have been spayed or neutered, and are regularly vaccinated and dewormed.

Open mics, live music and much more!

There's also a 'talent performance space' here at the Cat Café, which enables artists of all kinds, to ideate, curate and collaborate with others.

This charming and intimate venue hosts a wide variety of events on a regular basis. These include Open Mics, Band Performances, Live Music Sets, Stand-up routines and more. They also organise events on popular festivals and occasions, such as Children's Day, Valentine's Day, Christmas Eve, New Year and of course, International Cat Day!

These events bring an even greater level of enthusiasm and enjoyment to this quaint yet vibrant environment, creating unforgettable experiences for all involved. Whether you are looking for music, comedy or a chance to adopt a pet, there is always something going on at this charming venue.
