The Indian Meteorological Department on Sunday warned against heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated regions over eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Besides this, the monsoon impact will amplify over Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand and coastal areas, the forecast detailed. Squally weather and strong winds will persist along and off the Kerala-Karnataka-Goa-south Maharashtra-Gujarat coast and the Lakshadweep area.

As monsoon progresses in the Indian mainland, the MeT department has flagged several regions across the length and breadth of the nation to prepare for the approaching rain onslaught. As per reports, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) are very likely to envelop isolated regions over Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi.
Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, coastal & north interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are also on the trade radar. Lightening and isolated rains can soak up these regions as well. Meanwhile, dust storms, thunderstorms along with lightning are in store for Rajasthan, the weather update highlighted.
With strong winds brewing in the Arabian Sea at 40-50 kmph and the Bay of Bengal at 50-60 kmph, coastal and island regions will be on the receiving end of strong and sharp winds. This may also bring rains and thunderstorms along and off the Konkan-Goa belt, extending on either side to cover the Lakshwadeep area and Maharashtra-Gujarat coast.
