With the upcoming occasion of India's 75th Republic Day, the tricolour and saffron flags are set to be unfurled at around 350 forts across Maharashtra on January 26, 2024. This date also holds significance as the 350th anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's coronation, leading to the hoisting of saffron flags across Maharashtra Forts.

Organised by the Akhil Maharashtra Giryarohan Mahasangh (AMGM), the apex body of mountaineers in the state, this initiative aims to pay homage to the legendary Maratha warrior.

Furthermore, over 5,000 mountaineers have registered for the initiative. Various mountaineering organisations in Maharashtra, including Giripremi and Trekshitiz, have taken up the responsibility of specific forts, each with a designated coordinator ensuring seamless coordination among the participating mountaineers.
