Knocksense Shorts | New underground corridor to connect Mumbai's Orange Gate & Marine Drive

Jatin Shewaramani

With the goal of alleviating traffic congestion in the Orange Gate area and South Mumbai, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has devised a comprehensive plan. This plan entails the construction of a 9.23 km long corridor, which will also feature an underground tunnel. This route is intended to facilitate seamless commute passage between Orange Gate, at the Eastern Freeway and Marine Drive.

Furthermore, MMRDA has entrusted the responsibility of developing the corridor to the renowned private firm, Larsen & Toubro (L&T). The corridor will seamlessly link the east and west coasts of Mumbai through the Eastern Freeway, Mumbai Trans-Harbor Link (MTHL), Coastal Road and the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, providing uninterrupted travel without the need for traffic signals.
