The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is leaving no stone unturned to uplift the city's beauty through an all new beautification drive. The Mumbai beautification project was approved by the state government on Friday, following which, the BMC commissioner, Iqbal Singh Chahal issued new directives.

As per the directives, roads, bridges, major intersections and beaches will be adorned with vertical gardens, new lights, and murals. Lots more is in store for Mumbai, so read on to know all about it.

Under the beautification drive, roads and bridges across the city will be adorned with murals and paintings. Other than this, the coastal areas in the city will be given a makeover, with dedicated shacks on beaches, lighting on the streets and more.

Striving towards more hygienic roads and open spaces, intersections will be cleaned at regular intervals throughout the day. Moreover, the cleanliness drive will be extended to coastal areas of town as well.

All major intersections in the city will be illuminated with lights and adorned with vertical gardens. Reportedly, March 2023 has been set as the deadline for the beautification project, with a clause of completing 50% of the work by the end of December 2022.

In the past, several beautification projects have been conducted in the megacity. This time, in order to ensure that the work done towards the project is foolproof, and of good quality, a senior BMC officer will be appointed to monitor and review progress every week.

The project will not only elevate the city's beauty but will also help in making a mark in the annual Swachhata Survekshan Survey.
