Mumbai gears up for T20 Victory Parade for Men in Blue today; traffic advisory issued

Mumbai’s streets are set to come alive today with the jubilant cheers of cricket fans, owing to India's T20 World Cup victory. The grand victory parade for the Men in Blue is scheduled for Thursday evening, prompting significant traffic diversions and restrictions in Mumbai.

The Mumbai Traffic Police have issued a detailed advisory, warning commuters of disruptions from NCPA to Wankhede Stadium between 3 PM and 9 PM. To facilitate the parade, multiple roads will be closed, and alternate routes have been suggested to ease the congestion.

Take note of the key traffic diversions-

The major traffic diversions include-

  • N S Road (North Bound): Closed from NCPA to Meghdoot Bridge. Alternate route: Ramnath Poddar Chowk via Maharshi Karve Road.

  • N S Road (South Bound): Closed from Meghdoot Bridge to NCPA. Alternate route: Kemps Corner Bridge.

  • Veer Nariman Road (North Bound): Closed from Churchgate Junction to Kilachand Chowk.

    Alternate route: Maharshi Karve Road.

  • Dinshaw Vacha Road: Closed from WIAA Chowk to Ratanlal Babuna Chowk.

    Alternate route: Maharshi Karve Road.

  • Madam Cama Road: Closed from Mantralaya Junction to Air India Junction.

    Alternate route: Maharshi Karve Road.

  • Barrister Rajni Patel Marg: Closed from Sakhar Bhavan Junction to NS Road.

    Alternate route: Hotel Trident’s exit to Free Press Circle.

  • Vinay K Shah Marg: Closed from Jamanalal Bajaj Marg to Murali Deora Chowk.

    Alternate route: Ramnath Goenka Marg to Free Press Circle.

To ensure smooth traffic flow, parking restrictions will be in place on all 10 roads, surrounding the parade route. The Mumbai Police are urging the citizens to use public transport, especially trains, to reach the celebration area.

Join the parade festivities

The Indian Team, led by Captain Rohit Sharma, will join the parade from 5 PM onwards. Sharma took to social media, inviting fans to partake in the historic celebration: "We want to enjoy this special moment with all of you. So let’s celebrate this win with a victory parade at Marine Drive & Wankhede on July 4th from 5:00 PM onwards. It’s coming home."

Fans are encouraged to arrive early, preferably before 4:30 pm, and gather on the promenade side of Marine Drive to witness the celebrations.

A felicitation ceremony will take place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai at 7 PM. Entry for fans will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cricket Fever Beyond the City

In a heartening tribute to India's T20 World Cup win, farmer collectives in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, celebrated with environmental initiatives. The Samruddh Shetkari Vikas Gat and Saikrupa Mahila Shetkari Gat, along with the Paani Foundation, planted saplings named after Indian cricket players in Sarola Kasar and Savrgaon Tal villages. They also hoisted the national flag.

This unique celebration underscores their commitment to community and the environment. Paani Foundation's Head of Outreach, Lipi Mehta, highlighted their focus on knowledge-sharing and training, empoTeam India Arrival Live wering farmers to create sustainable changes without financial aid.
