With the final phase of Maharashtra's elections set for May 20, a political public rally will be held for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections at Shivaji Park in Dadar on Friday evening. Simultaneously, another political party will host a rally at BKC's Pathaka Maidan, intensifying the last day of campaigning. Voters in 13 parliamentary constituencies across Mumbai, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), and North Maharashtra will head to the polls.

In view of this, the Mumbai Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive advisory for residents of Mumbai regarding potential traffic delays.

Advisory issued by Mumbai Traffic Police

The Mumbai Traffic Police has issued an advisory, warning residents of potential traffic disruptions from 10 AM to midnight, due to both these rallies and an IPL match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Wankhede Stadium. The advisory suggests commuters, especially those traveling by air or rail, to plan their journeys meticulously to avoid delays.

"Commuters planning to travel by air or train should plan their journey in advance to avoid inconvenience and ensure timely arrival at their destination," the Traffic Police stated on social media platform X.

To manage the anticipated congestion, specific no-parking zones have been declared around Shivaji Park and other key areas. Additionally, alternate routes have been proposed to ease traffic flow, particularly on the Western Express Highway (WEH) and Eastern Express Highway (EEH), which are expected to bear the brunt of the congestion.

The Mumbai Police have emphasised the need for public cooperation to manage the expected influx of individuals and VVIPs attending the events. Residents are advised to stay updated through official channels for real-time traffic information and plan their movements accordingly.
