Mumbai Metro Update | MMRDA initiates tunnelling work on the new Metro Line 7A

Once operational, this metro line will connect Gundavali in Andheri East and CSMIA.

The Mumbai Metro Rail Development Authority (MMRDA) has commenced tunnelling work on the 3.4 km-long Mumbai Metro Line 7A. The new line will be an extension of the already operational Mumbai Metro Line 7, which connects Dahisar East to Gundavali. Once operational, Metro Line 7A will establish a crucial link between Gundavali in Andheri East and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA).

Reportedly, Metro Line 7A will include a partially elevated structure along with underground stations. As for the underground segment of the project, a pair of Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) has been deployed for constructing a twin tunnel. It is noteworthy that both TBMs, specifically TBM T62, have been successfully positioned at the designated site, and the inaugural drive for TBM T62 has commenced
