Exciting news on the weather front! The southwest monsoon is on the move, making its way into Karnataka along the Central Arabian Sea. Thus, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD), Maharashtra and Goa are next in line to experience monsoon showers within the next 4–5 days.

Meteorologists predict that the conditions are just right for the monsoon to make its entrance into Mumbai between June 8 and 10. On the other hand, pre-monsoon showers are expected to arrive in the city, by the afternoon or evening of June 7.

On June 3, officials from the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) were reported saying, that the southwest monsoon has advanced into more parts of the central Arabian Sea, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, coastal Andhra, Telangana and parts of west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal.

Additionally, per weather experts, a small-scale cyclonic circulation is expected to develop over the Arabian Sea near the Konkan Coast on June 7. This weather pattern is anticipated to bring in pre-monsoon showers to the Goa-Konkan coast, located on the windward side of the Western Ghats, between June 7-10.

Mumbai Weather Update

Meanwhile, on Monday, while pockets of Thane experienced light drizzle, the rest of Mumbai languished under sultry and humid conditions. The maximum temperature in the suburbs soared to 35.6°C, nearly two degrees above normal. Moreover, Mumbai's maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover between 29°C and 34°C today.

Further, as per IMD, Mumbaikars can expect pleasant weather for the next 3-4 days. Gentle westerly winds blowing over the Arabian Sea will bring cloudy skies and a moderate sea breeze to the city. It is also to be noted that this year, Mumbai is likely to face heavier rains than the usual range.
