Prepare to tighten your taps, for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has unveiled its water-saving strategy! With reserves dwindling, BMC has announced a 5% water cut, commencing on May 30, in Mumbai and its neighbouring Thane, Bhiwandi, and Nizampur. 

Moreover, brace yourselves for a deeper 10% cut, effective June 5, as BMC aims to stretch the remaining water like a precious resource. Only when satisfactory rainfall is received and the reservoir stock improves, will this water stiffness relent, affirms BMC.

According to the BMC, a total of 1,40,202 million litres of water is available in the dams supplying water to Mumbai. Presently, only 9.69% of the water stock is available as against 14,47,363 million litres per annum requirement.

In a recent tweet on X, BMC was noted saying that the administration is keeping a close watch on the water stock and ensuring a steady supply each day. But the call for conservation echoes louder than ever, as the authorities urge citizens to save every drop.
