Heavy to very heavy rainfall on Friday and Saturday.

Mumbai is bracing for another round of intense rainfall as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for the city for Friday and Saturday. This alert signifies extremely bad weather conditions that can severely affect transport, including rail, road, and air. A cyclonic circulation over Mumbai coupled with a monsoon trough has resulted in strong westerly winds, leading to heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The Palghar region of Maharashtra has also been experiencing heavy rain since this morning, with the IMD issuing an orange alert there as well. The IMD predicts intense spells of rain at isolated places in Mumbai over the next three to four hours.

In addition to Mumbai and Palghar, a Yellow Alert has been issued for the Thane and Raigad regions today. The city has already faced significant waterlogging and traffic disruptions due to recent heavy rainfall.

Airlines have been impacted, with Air India and IndiGo advising passengers to check flight statuses and leave early for the airport due to potential delays from slow traffic and waterlogging. A high tide of 3.87 meters is expected at 4:09 PM today, further complicating the situation.

The IMD has extended orange alerts for Saturday to Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Navi Mumbai (Raigad), urging residents to remain vigilant.
