Mumbai is gearing up for a day of fluctuating weather, with residents likely to experience a warm and muggy atmosphere as October Heat lingers. Temperatures are expected to range from 26.99°C to 31.52°C, setting the stage for a hot, humid day. Yet, there’s a chance for some relief as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted potential light showers across Mumbai and the Konkan region, including Nashik, Pune, and Nanded.

Today, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Mumbai is a concerning "259", ranking in the ‘poor’ category. Post-Diwali, Navy Nagar in Colaba, Kandivali West, Sewri, Malad West, Bandra Kurla Complex and Kherwadi-Bandra registered the worst AQI levels during the festival days. This has also led to increased respiratory issues among citizens, in the last couple of weeks. Light to moderate rainfall, which may include thunder and lightning, could provide a refreshing break from this oppressive heat and smog while improving air quality.

Although early November typically brings cooler temperatures, the city has been experiencing unusually high readings, a trend attributed to global climate change, reported IMD. Further, on October 31, Mumbai was declared the hottest city in Maharashtra.

Today’s forecast indicates a chance of rain, particularly in the Konkan region, bringing hope for some much-needed relief. Further, per reports, from early next week, there may be a slight break from the heat with a dip in temperatures.
