Mumbai is gradually transitioning into winter, with weekly temperatures expected to range between 22°C and 35°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Today’s forecast offers sunny skies and mild weather, with temperatures from 26°C to 30°C.
While the city welcomes the shift towards cooler weather, air quality remains a significant concern. The Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached 193, prompting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to take action. The civic body has rolled out stricter guidelines for construction sites and formed specialised monitoring squads to tackle rising pollution levels.
Authorities have urged children and individuals with respiratory issues to limit outdoor activities as pollution levels remain high. As part of the new measures, sensor-based air pollution monitoring systems will be installed at construction sites to ensure adherence to environmental regulations.
Despite the air quality challenges, meteorologists predict pleasant winter temperatures ahead, with daytime highs expected to hover around 30°C.
