Mumbai's first metro service, Mumbai Metro One, operating between the Ghatkopar-Andheri-Versova route, has reached a remarkable milestone, clocking 100 crore passengers as of August 22, 2024. Launched on June 8, 2014, Mumbai metro achieved this feat within a decade, doubling its ridership since hitting the 50 crore mark in January 2019.

Serving 5 lakh daily passengers

The 11 km corridor, featuring 12 stations, has become a vital link between Mumbai's eastern and western suburbs. Currently, it serves approximately 5,00,000 passengers on weekdays, operating 430 daily trips with peak hour frequencies of 3.5 minutes. The metro's success is attributed to its world-class service, with an impressive punctuality rate of over 99%.

Continuous improvements such as the installation of new scanners and an additional escalator at Saki Naka Station, have bolstered its appeal, driving a 20% increase in ridership. Moreover, the metro's seamless connectivity to the newly elevated lines 2A and 7 further enhances its importance.

Mumbai Metro One's punctuality and customer-centric solutions like Mobile QR ticketing, have solidified its spot as a preferred mode of transportation for Mumbaikars.
