Halloween is here and what better way to celebrate than by knowing about some of Mumbai’s most haunted places?!

From ghostly sightings to eerie sounds, these 6 spots will send shivers down your spine and give you a spooky story to share. So, gather your friends, muster up your courage, and get ready for a thrilling haunted experience in the city!

Mukesh Mills

First up is Mukesh Mills, a place that’s practically legendary among Mumbaikars. Once a bustling textile mill, it now stands in ruins after a fire back in the ’80s. This spot has been the backdrop for countless Bollywood films, including parts of Shah Rukh Khan's "Om Shanti Om", but it’s also known for some seriously spooky stories.

Many actors have reported seeing ghostly figures and experiencing strange occurrences while filming there. One actress even claimed she was possessed by a spirit warning people to stay away! If you’re brave enough to wander through the dark, charcoal-covered remnants, you might just hear whispers of the workers who once laboured there.

St. John the Evangelist Church

This old church in Andheri East is a real gem for thrill-seekers. Built over 500 years ago, it’s now in ruins, with vines crawling up its walls and an unsettling silence all around. Legend has it that the spirit of a young bride haunts the place.

People report that during an exorcism in 1977, a chilling cry was heard followed by a splash in the church’s pond, which led to all the fish mysteriously dying the next day. While locals do visit for Christmas mass, they generally avoid the church for the rest of the year, making it a spooky spot worth visiting during Halloween!

Aarey Milk Colony

By day, Aarey Milk Colony seems like a peaceful place, but it takes a creepy turn at night. Many people have reported hearing wailing kids and seeing ghostly figures asking for lifts. And if you refuse to stop, things can get a little scary!

The dense forest areas add to the spooky vibes, and folks generally say it’s best to avoid the place after 10 PM. If you’re feeling brave, though, keep your eyes peeled for the woman in white who’s said to make an appearance!

D’Souza Chawl

If you’re looking for a spot with a ghostly backstory, D'Souza Chawl is it! Locals say it’s haunted by the ‘Lady of the Well.’ The tale goes that a woman tragically fell into a well that was dug for residents and died.

Now, people claim to see her spirit wandering the area, though she’s believed to be harmless. The mysterious vibe of the chawl makes it a great place for those looking to dabble in the supernatural!

Tower of Silence

This Parsi sky burial ground is shrouded in mystery and tradition. Here, the deceased are left for vultures to consume, following Zoroastrian beliefs. Since non-Parsis aren’t allowed to enter, it adds an extra layer of intrigue.

Many locals say they’ve seen ghostly figures and heard eerie sounds coming from the tower, making it one of the creepiest places in Mumbai. A visit here will definitely give you a unique Halloween experience!

Sanjay Gandhi National Park

Now, you wouldn’t expect a park to make it on this list, but Sanjay Gandhi National Park has more than just wildlife and caves to explore—it’s got a ghost story too! People have reported seeing the spirit of a woman in a white sari asking for a lift from passing vehicles. And if they don’t stop? She’s known to scare the daylights out of them by chasing them away!

It is said that both the guards as well as the locals have seen something like this happening The eerie vibes don’t end there; the Kanheri Caves inside the park are said to be particularly haunted.
