A day dedicated to student empowerment.

Every year on October 15, students around the globe come together to celebrate World Students' Day - dedicated to honouring the life and legacy of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Declared by the United Nations in 2010, this special day aligns with Kalam’s birthday and recognises his profound educational contributions and unwavering support for students.

As its October 15, 2024, the significance of this day resonates deeply, reminding us of the enduring impact of the beloved “People’s President,” who tirelessly advocated for youth empowerment through education.

"Dream, dream, dream..."

Born in 1931 in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was a brilliant mind who pursued science and physics early on, eventually becoming one of India’s most respected figures. Affectionately known as the "Missile Man of India," he was crucial in shaping India’s missile and space programs. Despite his aerospace achievements, his true passion was always education, inspiring students to reach their full potential.

In 2002, Kalam was elected the 11th President of India, earning the title “People’s President” for his humble demeanour and deep connection with the youth. His presidency, from 2002 to 2007, was characterised by his unique ability to engage with young people, delivering speeches that sparked curiosity and national pride. His message, “Dream, dream, dream. Dreams transform into thoughts, and thoughts result in action,” continues to inspire students worldwide.

Even after his presidency, Kalam remained committed to teaching, taking up visiting professorships at prestigious institutions like IIM Ahmedabad, Shillong, and Indore, where he shared his knowledge and experience with eager learners.

On July 27, 2015, while delivering a lecture at IIM Shillong, Kalam collapsed due to cardiac arrest, leaving behind an enduring legacy of inspiration. His life is a testament to the transformative power of education, reminding us of its potential to change lives and uplift nations.

Committing to future generations this World Students' Day!

World Students' Day not only pays tribute to Dr. Kalam's lasting legacy but also serves as a reminder to foster a global community of lifelong learners. This day honours Dr. Kalam's conviction that students are the foundation of a nation's future. It serves as a celebration of knowledge, curiosity, and the boundless potential within every student.

In a world facing unprecedented challenges, empowering students through education remains the most promising pathway to a brighter tomorrow.
