Heavy rainfall triggers water-logging troubles at multiple places
As heavy showers lashed out in the city, parts of Goa were yet again seen to be waterlogged. It received heavy rainfall keeping residents indoors and causing inconvenience to commuters due to water logging in low-lying areas.
According to fire and emergency services, six trees were uprooted in Campal, Panaji. The state capital has come under severe criticism for its poor management, leading to intense water logging year after year.
Goa to not host the 36th National Game
After being tired of waiting, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has now announced a new location for the 36th edition of the National Games. As per the reports, the National Games are scheduled to take place in Gujarat later this year.
Goa signed a contract in 2008 to host National Games in 2011. However, due to the delayed previous edition, Goa was officially staged to host in 2015. After waiting for seven years, due to incomplete infrastructure, IOA has finally selected a new state to host the event.
Active caseload crosses 1000 mark in Goa
Goa’s daily COVID count touched 184 yesterday, taking the state's active caseload tally to 1017 with positivity rate climbing to 13.7%. However, no new casualties have been recorded.
Reportedly, the recovery rate in the state stands at 98.05% where 149 patients have recovered from COVID in last 24 hours.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in isolated places in Goa
South-West monsoon now seems to be hovering over the state of Goa. Moderate to heavy rainfall at most places with very heavy rainfall at isolated places were observed according to reports.
As per IMD reports, heavy rainfall is predicted at isolated places in Goa from 1st to 4th July. In addition to this, squally weather with wind speed reaching 60 kmph is likely to prevail along and off the North and South Maharashtra coast today.
