Revival of tourism crucial for the state economy
Being the most crucial part of the economy, the tourism industry drives the finances for the state. Given the disturbances that have stretched for more than a year, the state economy has to bear detrimental effects. Now, the government is planning to chalk out a middle path, laying equal emphasis on the safety of the citizens and strengthening the territorial economy.
Notably, the state has ramped up screening at the borders shared with Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district and private labs have also been asked to set up facilities. These measures are being deployed to prevent the entry of the Delta Plus variant detected in Maharashtra. 229 new infections and 258 recoveries were marked in Goa on Thursday and the state has 2,727 active patients now.
