Goa now has a new police force, dedicated to the wellbeing of women and children. Titled as the Pink Force, this department of state security has received expert training in counselling and how to act in emergency situations. The force will also work for the benefit of female tourists, revamping Goa's overall position as a global travel destination.

"If anyone dials 112 or 110, this force will reach the area within five minutes. Pink Force will also patrol beach areas and provide medical aid in case a woman complains of abuse or accident," said ID Shukla, Director General of Goa Police. It may be noted here that the Pink Force will only be engaged in the prevention of crime and not investigations.

As many as 11 teams of the Pink Force have been constituted to ensure ideal representation across the state. Each team has excellent communication facilities and weaponry to conduct regular patrols. "Pink Force is not only for women but also for children. The purpose is to prevent and mitigate upcoming dangers and for women to easily communicate their problems. 11 such prevention-dedicated teams have been formed with excellent communication facilities & weaponry," added the officer.
