Ongoing curfew restrictions extended in Goa till August 30

Auditoriums, community halls, river cruises, spas, massage parlours and casinos will continue to remain closed in Goa.

Amid anticipations of an impending third wave, the Goa government has extended the ongoing curfew restrictions till August 30 in the state. While the curfew was imposed for the first time on May 9, it was extended multiple times and a string of relaxations were rolled out gradually. As per reports, auditoriums, community halls, river cruises, spas, massage parlours, entertainment parks, water parks, and casinos will continue to remain closed in the territory.

Bars and restaurants allowed to operate in Goa from 7 AM to 11 PM

According to the current protocol, cinema halls are permitted to operate with 50% capacity. While schools are shut, for now, examinations can be conducted after proper sanction from the administration.

Besides, social/political/sports/entertainment/academic/cultural, marriage functions and other congregations can be held with 50% of the venue capacity. In addition to this, bars and restaurants are allowed to function from 7 AM to 11 PM at 50% capacity. Further, indoor gyms and indoor and outdoor sports complexes (without spectators) are also permitted to operate.

Additionally, reports state that inter-state movement is banned except for –

  • Individuals with COVID negative report for a test conducted within 72 hours prior to entry in Goa (only RT-PCR test will be valid for travellers from Kerela).
  • Persons coming to Goa due to medical emergencies. Such people will have to produce a proper proof.
  • Two drivers and one helper will be allowed for each goods vehicle. They will be checked through thermal guns and entry would be denied in case they show symptoms.

As per the stated guidelines, fully vaccinated individuals coming to Goa for rendering their services in industries, labour and construction sectors will be permitted. In addition to this, doubly inoculated Goan residents stranded in other states, returning to Goa after travel related to medical reasons will also be granted entry. Further, Individuals coming for business and employment will be allowed, if they have taken both doses.

76 new cases and 91 recoveries were recorded in Goa on Sunday. As of now, 1,73,164 individuals have been affected by the virus and a total of 3,185 citizens have succumbed to the fatal contagion.
