Reportedly, the central administration has declared the new Delta Plus mutant, as a variant of concern. Earlier this week, the Maharashtra Health Minister apprised that a total of 21 cases of Delta Plus have been reported in the state. While Ratnagiri and Jalgaon have the maximum cases, two cases have been reported from Mumbai as well.

Further, Palghar, Thane and Sindhudurg districts, have logged one case each. Notably, Sindhudurg shares boundaries with Goa and this alerted the state officials. In view of this, the state government has amplified the screening along borders and private labs have also been asked to set up testing facilities there.

Amid the latest developments, the Goa Health Minister shared through his Twitter account. "In view of the Delta Plus Variant cases found in the neighbouring states, we shall ensure that stringent monitoring is taking place at the borders. Hon''ble CM @DrPramodPSawant has already issued instructions on this matter."
