Goa to be promoted as a potential start-up hub & innovation centre

Promoting Goa as a potential hub for start-ups and innovation, the centre will now focus on the diversification of the state economy. They will also cater to the expansion of skill enhancing opportunities.

Under the initiative, the administration will primarily provide skilling opportunities for youngsters. This would be made possible through establishment of skill hubs and Atal Tinkering labs under the Atal Innovation Mission of the government.

Employment sector expansion also in plans

Besides the upskilling programmes, more industries will be established in the state to augment the employment sector. This will also include the establishment of an efficient IT sector in the state which will further prove to be beneficial for Goan individuals returning to the state after losing IT jobs abroad due to recession and other reasons.

Centre of Excellence to come up for MedTech and AI-oriented startups

As per the plans, the medical sector of the state can expect a boost. For this, the administration will explore the possibility for the establishment of a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for MedTech and AI-oriented startups. This will further prove to be beneficial for monitoring and upgrading all the health centres across the state.

The initiative was announced by the Union Minister of State (MoS) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Electronics and IT during a press conference which was held in Margao.
