Health Minister Vishwajit Rane rolled the Jhpiego 'RISE' Project in association with the US Agency for International Development (USAID), to model Goa's healthcare structure as the prototype example of expertise across. Reportedly, Rise India is assisting all secondary and tertiary centres in Goa and 27 other states for technical support and help. With this, the Goa Health Department is aiming to set up a responsive respiratory emergency critical care and medical management system in the state for better provision and facilities for all.
This establishment will also create a learning network of facilities, under the care of a state centre of excellence, linking all adults and paediatric ICUs with an efficient and scaled oxygeneco-system and diagnostics infrastructure. This ecosystem will also include testing facilities for COVID-19, including RT-PCR laboratories and whole-genome sequencing for overall skill-enhancing, and bio-medical waste management.
The Director of Health Services has shown confidence in the new venture, stating that Rise India can back-up Goa's health care infrastructure for desired improved results. He along with the Health Minister also acknowledged the dedication of the state's health force and their contribution amid the difficult times of the pandemic.

The Goa Health Minister has further sought the support of USAID Rise India to set up a genome sequencing lab here. This new provision will create an independent testing provision in Goa, which will equip the state to deal with a load of international passengers arriving here, without external help or delay, highlighted the Minister.
