Omicron tally in India surges to 4868!
According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family affairs, after logging 407 fresh Omricon infections in the past 24 hours, the national tally of the highly contagious COVID variant has soared to 4868. Out of the total infections, the number of recovered patients so far stands at 1805. The strain has been recorded in 28 states and UTs, as per the ministry.

Among all states, Maharastra continues to be the worst hit with 1,281 cases, and 499 patient recoveries. Rajasthan takes the second lead at 645 cases, followed by Delhi with 546 Omicron cases.
The national capital is followed by Karnataka with 479 cases, while Kerala has registered 350 cases so far. West Bengal has reported the highest single-day spike of 267 Omicron cases from the 27 yesterday, pushing the state's tally to 294.
Uttar Pradesh has reported 275 cases of this variant so far, while Gujarat and Tamil Nadu stand at 236 and 185 cases respectively. The Omicron infections have surged to 162 in Haryana, while Telangana is steady at 123.

Omicron cases in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh have risen to 102, and 54 respectively. While Bihar and Punjab continue with 27 cases each and Goa stands at 21 cases, for now. 13 Omicron cases have been logged in Jammu and Kashmir, so far while Madhya Pradesh has 10 cases of the new strain.
The States in single-digit count continues to be Assam at 9 and Uttarakhand at 8 infections. Meghalaya and Chhattisgarh have recorded 5 Omicron cases, each along with Chandigarh and Andaman Nicobar Islands who have each logged 3 cases so far. Puducherry stands at 2 cases. While Himachal Pradesh, Laddakh and Manipur have each recorded one case of the variant.
The administration of Booster doses has also begun in the country, wherein frontline workers and health workers are being prioritised. The only advisable thing to do right now is, avoid crowds and use masks and sanitizers at all times.
