The Film Federation of India (FFI) , which is the governing body of all film associations in India, has issued a call for submission of Indian films that can be considered as official entries for the 96th Annual Academy Awards.
Ravi Kottarakara, the President of the Film Federation of India (FFI), has declared that a window of 25 days, from August 15th to September 10th, will be open for the submission of nominations for this year's Academy Awards.
Kottarakara also stated that a jury will be appointed by the FFI in the near future for the Oscar submissions, with the participation of prominent figures in the creative field, who will also serve on the jury panel.
The selection committee will conduct a private screening of all the nominees for this year’s Academy Awards from September 15th - 25th in Chennai. The final selection from India will be announced on September 26th. Kottarakara also urged filmmakers to be actively involved in the process, with the aim of being India’s official representative at the 96th Academy Awards.
Eligibility Criteria:
Films released between December 1st, 2022 and October 31st, 2023, will be eligible for nominations at the International Film Feature Category at the Oscars. Additionally, the film must be publicly shown in a commercial theatre, continuously for a minimum of seven consecutive days.
Last year, movies like 'RRR' and 'Elephants Whisperers' brought laurels to India in the Academy Awards category,” said Kottarakkar.
