110 new vehicles to drive Indore's sanitation system ahead; Machines to replace manual scavenging
Strengthening Indore's sanitation framework, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has added a total of 110 new vehicles to its cleanliness fleet. The new vehicles will serve different purposes ranging from garbage collection, sewer/pipline cleaning.
Reportedly, Indore bagged the title of 'India's cleanest city' for the 6th time in a row, this year. And these new vehicles will help maintain the tag by improving the reach within the city and providing support to the cleanliness team. The fleet also compromises of some vehicles that will replace manual scavenging.
Vehicles that will serve varied purposes have been added to the fleet
Maintaining environmental sustainability and with the notion of promoting eco-frienly operations, most of the vehicles which have been added to the fleet run on CNG.
Out of the 110 vehicles, 60 of them are CNG based garbage tippers with a 3 ton capacity. 25 diesel-based garbage tippers have also been added. Other vehicles include pre-equipped machinery such as jetting machines, grabbing cum rodding machines and suction machines which will be used for opening and cleaning chambers and sewer/water pipelines.
These vehicles will be distributed among all 85 wards of the city to bolster Indore's Swachhta Abhiyaan.
