In a new initiative, a childcare room in the Kamla Nehru Prani Sanghrahalaya aka Indore zoo has been opened to benefit the breastfeeding mothers visiting the zoo with their children. The service has been initiated in collaboration with Samvedna Lok Parmarthik Sanstha.

A demand for a facility like this

Indore zoo officials inform that mothers with young children visit the zoo in big numbers. They often face the problem of feeding their children in public. Some mothers came forward to the zoo management with the demand for a dedicated breastfeeding room. After due discussion among the authorities, the demand was accepted and the facilty was soon constructed.

The room will offer mothers a hygienic space and privacy while feeding their children. It has been informed that mothers who have come in so far are happy with such a facility.

An example for other public places

The facility is surrounded by greenery to maintain a calm and comfortable vibe. Samvedna group also planted 100 trees on the launch of the childcare room. As per the officials, the idea of such a facility will be shared with the Central Museum so that, more of these rooms are established at public places. The group is constantly making conscious efforts for solving problems for the public. In order to do so, they also plan to install an RO plant for clean drinking water at Indore Zoo.
