CBSE schools in Indore to transform into 'Green Schools' by promoting eco-friendly initiatives
Contributing to Indore's smart city initiatives, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools of the city will now lay special emphasis on promoting necessary initiatives for sustainable development.
Under this, the CBSE schools will promote a special curriculum including environmental awareness, sensitivity and the skills necessary for becoming environmentally responsible citizens.
Schools to raise environmental awareness among students
The move under which Indore city schools will aim towards becoming 'Green School' coincides with National Energy Conservation Day which is observed on December 14. Along with this, the parliament also passed the Energy Conservation (Amendment) Bill, 2022 on December 12.
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has also issued a resource book for CBSE schools which suggests ways to transform the schools through practices of education for sustainable development (ESD).
