Foundation stone laid for MP's first Multi-Modal Logistics Park in Indore
The first Multi-Modal Logistics Park in Madhya Pradesh will come up in the state's commercial capital, i.e., Indore. The foundation stone for the said park, which will come up near Pithampur in Dhar district, was laid by the PM on Monday, October 2.
Furthermore, the construction of this state-of-the-art logistics park, spreading across an area of 255.17 acres, will be carried out in three phases. And the first phase of the park is expected to begin operations by the year 2025.
Expected to generate approximately 10k jobs
The new logistics park in Indore will boost the existing industrial zones in the region. These include the likes of Ujjain, Dhar, Dewas, Barwani, Khandwa, and of course, Pithampur. But on a larger scale, the MMLP is expected to greatly lower logistics costs, bringing it down to 8-9% of the GDP from the existing 14%.
This will be made possible by the logistics park's handling capacity of a whopping 12.79 million metric tonne of cargo in the initial 45-year horizon period. Furthermore, what makes this park stand out is that it will fulfill most of its energy requirements via green energy resources.
As for the employment boost, the new logistics park in Madhya Pradesh has been predicted to create around 10,000 jobs across fields.
