IIM Indore's new center of excellence to focus on studies relating to waste management methods

Walking on the path of constant innovation, IIM Indore has now assembled a new Centre of Excellence (CoE) by joining with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to work on WASH - Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. At this facility, courses concerning sensitivity towards urban sanitation and waste management will be adhered to. These range all the way from political leadership, ward councilors, to front-line employees of corporations.

IIM Indore’s inventive partnership

As part of this initiative, Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIM-I), has also collaborated with five foreign universities to impart training and conduct joint research on urban sanitation and waste management. The universities partnered with are: 

  • University of Denver

  • Rutgers University

  • University of Glasgow

  • University of Liverpool

  • Bocconi University

CoE collaboration with foreign universities will provide participants with a global perspective and exposure to international best practices in the field of urban sanitation and waste management.

The courses at the centre will include waste segregation and management, recycling and waste treatment, public-private partnerships and policy and regulatory frameworks. The ultimate goal behind these full-time and part-time programmes is to further Clean India Mission and make the country free of open defecation and improve overall health, hygiene, and lifestyle of our citizens.
