In an attempt to help the researchers in the country make the most of the resources available, IIT Indore has collaborated with NASA, Caltech and University of Gothenburg, and developed a low cost camera setup. Known as the 'CL-FRAME', this unique setup will help labs that do not have high-end equipment to carry out quality research at par with international standards.

The setup simplifies research and reduces cost

In studying the phenomenon of combustion, researchers usually need four cameras along with the same number of objective lenses. But with the 'CL-FRAME', the same phenomenon can be minutely studied with a single DSLR camera, significantly reducing costs and simplifying the process.

The study to develop this economical camera setup was led by a Ph.D. scholar at IIT Indore. Furthermore, the study was supervised by professors at IIT Indore, NASA, Caltech and University of Gothenburg. Commenting on their study, the authors emphasized the importance of such initiatives for a developing country like India to compete with researchers across the globe.
