Indore records the sharpest daily dengue spike this year, with 21 new cases on Thursday

Amidst the pervasive spread of dengue in Madhya Pradesh, Indore has recorded the season's highest single-day fresh tally, on Thursday. Reportedly, 21 new dengue infections were detected on September 16, pushing Indore's total tally to 203 cases, as of now. This has raised concerns across the district, for the disease count is rising despite the implementation of several restrictive measures.

Dengue cases plague Indore since August 1

Going by reports, a visible increase in the rising dengue cases was noticed since the beginning of August, however, the disease expanded further in September. Of the total cases detected till date, around 170 patients were infected post August 1.

While about 50% of the total dengue surge has been prevalent among men, women accounted for more than 57% of the fresh cases recorded on Thursday. It may be noted that out of the 203 total Dengue cases reported this season, over 100 are men, whereas women and children account for 97 and 30 cases, respectively,

After reaching the lowest in a decade with 86 cases in the last season, the dengue rise this year has brought a major setback to Madhya Pradesh. As such, several state and district level measure and has been undertaken to trap the soaring spread of the disease. Various on-ground activities like fogging, anti-larva survey and surveillance, among other activities are being conducted on a regular schedule here.

Besides, the state government had also initiated the 'Dengue Se Jung Janta Ke Sang' campaigncampaign earlier this week to control the threat of Dengue disease. Under the ambit of this programme, special anti-dengue fogging drives were organised across various districts in MP, on Wednesday.
