MPPTCL to dedicate 3 grid stations to Indore Metro

Under an agreement with the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL), Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Limited (MPPTCL) has decided to dedicate three grid stations for the Metro Rail project in Indore. As per reports, the 220/132KV extra high tension power grids will be placed in Jaitpura, Manglia and Depalpur areas in the district. Reportedly, the construction work of this Indore Metro project is in its first phase at present.

Notably, three new substations have been proposed in the first phase of Indore Metro Rail project at Khajrana, MR10 and Gandhi Nagar. According to the officials, the grid stations will be upgraded and connected with these three substations planned in the first leg of this project. As per reports, MPPTCL plans on upgrading all three power grids by the end of March, 2022.

Meanwhile, covering a distance of around 124 kilometres, this metro project will consist of 10 corridors. Reportedly, the first phase of this long-running metro project of Indore expected to finish by the fiscal year 2023-24. The upcoming rapid transit system in Indore will help ease the vehicular congestion across the city. Upon completion, the Indore Metro Rail Project will benefit a population of more than 30 lakh people by providing connectivity across the city, under the Smart City project.
