COVID-19 recoveries in Indore surpass fresh cases on Tuesday

This is the first time during the third wave that the number of patients tested negative is greater.

The number of fresh COVID cases in Indore dipped lower than the tally of recoveries logged in on Tuesday, January 25. This is the first time during the third wave that the number of patients tested negative is greater. As per the Indore district bulletin, around 1,992 fresh positive cases were reported here on Tuesday, while a higher count of 2,040 recovered. Though the drop in the daily infection load is being observed for a couple of days now, Indore’s positivity rate remains at an alarming 17.65%.

Indore has witnessed a gradual dip in the cases since the start of this week While cases surged at an all-time high of 3,372 on January 22, the load has been spiralling downwards since. According to official figures, the virus claimed 4 lives on Sunday, January 23, when the number of positive cases was 2,665. On Monday, only 1,963 fresh cases were reported.

As of Tuesday, the COVID scale balanced at 1992 here with 2 casualties. Indore's total pandemic toll now stands at 1,414 deaths.

Preventative measures stricter than ever

Around 15 passengers were stopped after testing positive from their scheduled flight to Dubai at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport. In addition to that, Indore district collector, Manish Singh has ordered all government frontline and healthcare workers to get the third precautionary shot.

There has been no alteration in COVID restriction but all officials have been directed to strictly implement the announced guidelines for maximum pandemic security. According to sources, salaries will be withheld for government employees who fail to do so.
