More than 1K people fined in Indore for not wearing face masks
The Indore municipal authority has adopted a strict protocol to arrest the growth of coronavirus infection in the district. Reportedly, more than 1,000 people have been fined in the city in the course of 2 days for not wearing a face mask. Following the orders of the Municipal Corporation Commissioner, zonal officials have been tasked with the responsibility to provide counsel and penalise offenders flouting COVID-19 norms in public.

Indore Municipal Corporation has devised several precautionary measures as the public protocol to contain the COVID-19 spread here. Following this, in 2 days about 1,020 people have been penalised with a fine for not wearing a face mask in public. Under this active campaign, the IMC has so far recovered a sum of ₹51,000 as fine. Each COVID norm violator is charged with a fine ranging from ₹50 to ₹100, read reports.
Besides imposing a fine for not wearing masks, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner informed that the civic authority has distributed more than 1 lakh pamphlets across the city to raise awareness about the preventive measures against the coronavirus infection. The task was undertaken by the corporation's revenue staff who spread the word about the importance of wearing a face mask, adhering to social distancing, frequent hand washing and using sanitisers etc to break the chain of infection.
On Thursday, new coronavirus cases in Indore touched a 70-day high as tallies soared with 196 fresh infections. While the daily recovery lurked behind with 111 discharged patients, about 1,441 continue to receive active treatment in the city. The morbidity count here rose 939 with the addition of one death yesterday.
