Indore WCD dept. to start 'Santa Bag' initiative for providing woolens to underprivileged children
The winter season comes along with a cluster of perks, fresh green veggies, plump fruits, iconic season-specific delicacies, thrilling festivities and much more, the season seemingly feels like a boon to most of people.
However, the underprivileged section of society cannot make merry due to the lack of resources essential to protect them from the adversities of brutally cold temperatures. Coming to the rescue, the women and child development (WCD) department has begun a 'Santa Bag' scheme. Under this, the body will provide woolen clothing to the children enrolled in anganwadis and other government facilities of Indore.
Anganwadis to provide special, higher nutritional value meals to children
In order to collect resources, the WCD department previously started a special donation campaign in Indore, which received a great response. With this, the WCD has already collected hundreds of sweaters, jackets and warmers which will be distributed in various government facilities including the anganwadis of the city around Christmas week.
Additionally, the WCD has also made changes to the diet plan at the anganwadis of the city. Reportedly, the children at these facilities are being provided with a special winter-specific diet consisting of a greater intake of protein and nutritional additives for keeping them warm during the season.
Furthermore, the department has also decided to distribute customised gift boxes for the children and their families during the Christmas week.
