Indore Zoo welcomes rare serpents, exotic primates & birds under an expansive exchange programme
Adding to the menagerie of the Kamla Nehru Prani Sangrahalaya of Indore, 42 animals from 15 different species including African Black Python and Flying Squirrel have been indexed under a large-scale animal exchange program. The animal exchange programme was undertaken along with the Green Zoological Garden of Jamnagar, Gujarat and some other places abroad.
Under the programme, numerous species of reptiles, exotic varieties of primates and rare avians have also been brought to the Indore zoo from the Jamnagar zoo. Moreover, flying squirrels have also been sourced from Australia.
Which species have been received by the Indore zoo?
Reportedly, Anacondas have been registered for the first time to the Indore zoo. Other varieties of animals which have been received by the zoo include – yellow anaconda, black python, galago (primate), rosella, greenwing macaw, conure bird, Moluccan cockatoo, conure bird and larry bird.
Furthermore, lions and alligators have been sent to the Jamnagar zoo in exchange of the new varieties of animals. The recently arrived entrants will be available for public viewing following a quarantine period of 21 days.
