Knocksense Shorts | After Bhopal, Indore plans to dismantle BRTS Corridor to address congestion

In an effort to address Indore's persistent traffic issues, the state CM has announced plans to dismantle the Bus Rapid Transit System within the city. The 11.5 km BRTS lane, which runs from Rajeev Gandhi Square to Niranjanpur Square, occupies significant road space and has been identified as a factor restricting smooth traffic flow. To tackle this problem, the government plans to construct a flyover along the same stretch, necessitating the removal of the BRTS corridor.

Previously, the BRTS corridor in Bhopal was dismantled in a phased manner, with the process beginning last year and reaching completion earlier this year.

Indore's BRTS corridor currently accommodates 59 operational buses and serves approximately 60,000 passengers daily. The MP government has filed a petition in the state high court seeking permission to dismantle the corridor. Further action will be taken once the court delivers its verdict.
